Arsenal FC News : Arsenal 0 - 0 Manchester City

Gunners are held in bore draw

Much of the pre-match hype had surrounded the return of former Gunners striker Emmanuel Adebayor, but he was left on the bench by City boss Roberto Mancini - before being introduced to resounding jeers early in the second half.

Arsenal had the better of possession, yet they only tested Shay Given a couple of times before the City goalkeeper went off with a suspected broken shoulder.

There were a few expected boos as Adebayor made his way to the visitor's dugout before kick-off, while by contrast his fellow former Gunners Kolo Toure and Patrick Vieira were both well received by the home supporters.

Arsenal threw away any hopes of getting back into the title race last weekend when they blew a 2-0 lead in the last 10 minutes to lose at Wigan, while big-spending City were looking to overtake Tottenham - who had earlier lost at Manchester United - in the chase for that coveted final Champions League qualifying slot.

Robin van Persie has been sorely missed by the Gunners, and captained the side on his home return following five months out with a knee injury.

The Dutchman almost made an instant impact when he burst into the City box before Toure came across to make a blocking tackle.

There was a brief stoppage when City defender Wayne Bridge needed treatment for a thigh problem.

The full-back was, though, soon in the action again, sprinting down the left wing, only to be beaten to the ball by Theo Walcott - who will be doing his best to get on the plane to South Africa as part of England's World Cup squad.

City were, however, forced into a change on 27 minutes, when Bridge was replaced by Micah Richards - himself just fit again following a four-match absence with a knee injury.

Samir Nasri was then flagged somewhat dubiously offside after latching onto Van Persie's throughball.

Arsenal continued to press, and Walcott skewed his first-time effort as the ball dropped at the edge of the City area.

Nasri's angled shot following a wonderful take down by Van Persie brought the first meaningful save from Given.

At the other end, a crunching tackle from veteran Sol Campbell blocked Vieira as the former Gunners captain burst into the penalty area.

After a low-key opening to the second half, the introduction of Adebayor on 52 minutes was greeted by a cacophony of boos - despite manager Arsene Wenger having called for the former Togo striker to be shown the same respect as all old players. Vieira was clapped off, the home fans delivering a clear message to their one-time star man Adebayor, who left for City in a £25million summer move.

With the temperature raised, there was a flashpoint when Craig Bellamy and Song squared up, with referee Mike Dean calling the respective captains together in an attempt to restore calm to what had been a well-contested but not overly physical game.

Rosicky drilled a low shot from 18 yards straight at Given after a neat one-two with Nasri as Arsenal upped the pace again.

Adebayor capitalised on a slip from Silvestre to dart off down the left, but ran the ball out - much to the delight of the home fans.

City were having a much better spell, and continued to press Arsenal back.

Substitute Nicklas Bendtner flashed a low cross through the six-yard box, before Diaby created space to shoot from 25 yards.

Given tipped wide at full stretch but appeared to have damaged his shoulder and, after several minutes of treatment, he was carried off on a stretcher taking in oxygen. Faroe Islands goalkeeper Gunnar Nielsen replaced him for an unexpected debut.

Bellamy was booked for tripping Bendtner and Van Persie followed after a late sliding challenge on Adebayor as City broke quickly.

It was becoming a busy afternoon for referee Dean, as Pablo Zabaleta was also shown a yellow card for stepping across Eboue and conceding a free-kick some 25 yards out. Van Persie chipped his effort over the wall, but just inches wide of the top right corner.

There were eight minutes of stoppage time, during which neither side were able to find a winner.

MLM, Jualan Langsung & Skim Cepat kaya???

Selalu kita tgk 3 element ni dihubungkait dgn penipuan, cari org tipu org & mengkayakan upline, dll. Bnyk tanggapan buruk terhadap benda2 mcm ni (almost 99%). Pernah tak terfikir, ape yg terjadi dlm ketiga2 perkara ni.
Kita tahu, 60-70% dari rakyat negara ni dlm kelompok sederhana a.k.a cukup2 makan. Cara terbaik bagi mereka untuk mendapatkan pendapatan sampingan adalah bisnes kecil2an ataupun Jualan Langsung. Fikirkan dgn baik, JIKA kita sendiri nak bukak sesuatu bisnes, mesti pelbagai kajian yg kita buat kan??? produk nak jual, tapak, marketing, modal, target, saingan, persekitaran & sasaran perniagaan.Bayangkan nak bukak kedai makan, tetapi bukak disebelah kolam IWK??? Salah siapa yg merencanakan strategi merketing?
Inilah masalah UTAMA org yg menceburi MLM. Ketamakan & Rakus untuk mendapatkan downline tanpa mengira & menolong downline2 lain yg existing dibawahnya. Pembawakan konsep penyusunan yg tak teratur & tamak menyebabkan sistem mereka hancur barai & tak jalan.

pandangan ikhlas :)

-Wassalamualaikum-

Arsenal FC News : Wigan Athletic 3 - 2 Arsenal

N'Zogbia kills Gunners' title dream

Three goals in the final 11 minutes gave Wigan arguably the most stunning victory in their Premier League history and slammed the door shut on Arsenal's faint title hopes.

The Gunners appeared to be coasting to victory on the back of goals either side of half-time from Theo Walcott and Mikael Silvestre, and with it hauling themselves to within three points of leaders Chelsea.

But after a run of eight defeats and a draw in the league against Arsenal, Wigan added to their maiden wins over Chelsea and Liverpool this season as Ben Watson, Titus Bramble and Charles N'Zogbia conjured an astonishing comeback.

The remarkable result leaves Wigan seven points clear of the drop zone and seemingly safe, whereas Arsenal can now kiss goodbye to any hope they had of the title after back-to-back defeats in the space of five days.

Tottenham's victory over leaders Chelsea yesterday had given the visitors a glimmer of hope on the title front, but that has now evaporated, and they have only themselves to blame for a late collapse.

For 40 minutes here they found themselves frustrated by a Wigan side desperate for points in their battle to stay in the top flight for a sixth successive season.

After being booed off the pitch on Wednesday following a goalless draw against an already-relegated and understrength Portsmouth side, Wigan were determined to restore the faith of their fans.

There was certainly an urgency about Roberto Martinez's side, but for 80 minutes they lacked a cutting edge.

Instead it was Arsenal who were in the ascendancy, initially in the 41st minute as Nicklas Bendtner split covering defenders Maynor Figueroa and Bramble with a through ball of pace and precision.

After riding Bramble's challenge and pulling away from Figueroa, Walcott then slid the ball underneath the advancing Chris Kirkland for his seventh goal of the season.

It was deserved as Walcott should have scored minutes prior to that after Abou Diaby had released him in behind Wigan's defence.

Although left with a one-on-one opportunity with Kirkland just outside the six-yard box, he opted to try and find Bendtner with a square ball, only to pull it behind him, allowing Wigan to clear.

Walcott could, and perhaps should have given Arsenal a two-goal cushion on the stroke of half time, only to narrowly clear the bar with a rising drive from just inside the area.

Prior to Walcott's opener Wigan were lively, but barely troubled Lukasz Fabianski, playing in his first league game since the end of last season with Manuel Almunia out with a wrist injury.

N'Zogbia, rumoured to be a target for Wenger in the summer, was narrowly wide with one curled effort, whilst a low, powerful 20-yard drive was straight at the Pole.

As a contest, it seemed to turn inside the opening three minutes of the second half, initially after just 40 seconds as Wigan were denied a penalty.

Referee Lee Mason, who had incurred the wrath of the Wigan fans all afternoon with his decisions, infuriated the locals further by turning a blind eye to Samir Nasri's pull on the arm of Watson.

Moments later, and from Arsenal's first attack of the half, Kirkland superbly denied Diaby at close range, with the ball eventually running for a corner.

Nasri proceeded to deliver an outswinger to which Wigan's defence were guilty of falling asleep, allowing Silvestre an unmarked header from the penalty spot beyond Kirkland's outstretched grasp.

Starting for Thomas Vermaelen, who misses the end to the season with a calf strain, it was Silvestre's first goal for a year since a 4-1 win on this ground.

Wigan, though, did not roll over and die. N'Zogbia first curled a tame effort that was easy pickings for Fabianski, on his 25th birthday, after being played in by Watson.

Watson was then denied by Fabianski who was at full stretch to prevent a low 20-yard shot from creeping inside his right-hand post, whilst Hugo Rodallega saw his scuffed shot trickle inches wide.

Then 10 minutes from time Watson hauled Wigan back into the game with a sidefoot effort from 12 yards after substitute Victor Moses had played the midfielder in from the bye-line. It was the catalyst for the comeback, aided by a howler from Fabianski who fluffed an N'Zogbia corner, allowing Bramble a free header which crossed the line, despite Clichy's efforts to hook the ball clear.

Then in the first of four minutes of added time N'Zogbia struck a curling winner from 20 yards to send the majority of the DW Stadium into raptures, and leave Arsenal's followers sickened.

Wigan defender Mario Melchiot pointed to the inspirational words of manager Roberto Martinez as the catalyst for the Latics' remarkable come-from-behind win.

He told Sky Sports: "At half-time the gaffer said, 'Keep going, guys - I believe in you and you can do it', and that made a difference. I was happy that we kept going and Charlie [N'Zogbia] got a magnificent goal."

Asked what the win would do for the Lancashire club, the Dutchman added: "It's very big. It's going to make a lot of difference to the morale of the team and those who come and see us."

Central defender Bramble, who profited from a glaring error from Arsenal goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski to nod the equaliser in the final minute, hailed the battling spirit of his side.

"It shows what great commitment we have," he said.

Commenting on his own goal, he added: "The keeper's pushed it in the air and I got the rebound - thankfully it crossed the line."

Next up for Wigan is a game at fourth-bottom West Ham next Saturday which could secure the Latics' place at English football's top table, and Bramble warned his side cannot afford to rest easy while it is still mathematically possible to go down.

"We've got a massive game next week and we celebrate today, but we've got to prepare for next week," he said.

Arsenal FC News : Tottenham Hotspur 2 - 1 Arsenal

Spurs halt Gunners' title charge

Danny Rose fired a spectacular volley to help deliver a seemingly fatal blow to Arsenal's Premier League title aspirations at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham's 19-year-old midfielder, making his first league start, smashed home Manuel Almunia's looping fisted clearance on the full from 30 yards out.

The thunderbolt return screamed narrowly over Almunia's head and, though the Spaniard appeared to react slowly, it was hit with such venom that he had little chance.

Spurs doubled their lead through Gareth Bale a minute after the interval and, although Nicklas Bendtner pulled one back six minutes from time, the hosts held on to seal their first league triumph over their north London rivals since 1999.

Just as importantly, victory propelled them right back into contention for the fourth Champions League place and they now trail fourth-placed Manchester City by one point with five games remaining.

It was just the response manager Harry Redknapp was hoping for after Sunday's bitter FA Cup semi-final defeat by Portsmouth - a match that had taken extra time to settle.

There was little sign of tired legs, though Spurs - lifted by the return of skipper Ledley King from a thigh injury - rode their luck at times with Bendtner missing one good early chance.

Running out of ideas after having the better of the first-half possession, the Gunners wilted after the interval with Bale's strike appearing to be an insurmountable setback.

They found a second wind - inspired mainly by the 68th-minute arrival of Robin van Persie with Bendtner supplying their goal - but were frustrated by a string of fine save from Heurelho Gomes.

The six-point gap with leaders Chelsea remains and, with four matches left, Arsenal have little chance of ending their five-year wait for silverware this season.

Much of the pre-match focus was on Sol Campbell's return to White Hart Lane and his every touch of the ball were predictably greeted with a chorus of jeers

But the former England defender almost silenced the home fans with a minute on the clock only for his goalbound header to be cleared off the line by Benoit Assou-Ekotto.

Michael Dawson made a crucial tackle on Tomas Rosicky as he was pulling the trigger from 10 yards out amid a strong start from the Gunners.

The promise ended, however, when Rose turned play on its head by driving home his contender for goal of the season.

Moments earlier Spurs had seen Thomas Vermaelen make a vital block of Roman Pavlyuchenko's close-range shot and Arsenal's problems deepened when the Belgian defender limped off to be replaced by Mikael Silvestre.

The goal had knocked the wind out of Arsenal's sails but slowly they clawed their way back into the match.

Bendtner was superbly teed up by Rosicky but, despite only being 12 yards out and having time on the ball, he still scuffed a poor shot towards Heurelho Gomes.

Panic reigned in Arsenal's defence when Silvestre gave Luka Modric a glimpse of goal with a careless touch but Almunia blocked and then Campbell came to the rescue.

Spurs replaced Rose with David Bentley at half-time and it took just a minute for the Champions League hopefuls to extend their lead.

Jermain Defoe did well to hold off Emmanuel Eboue and pick out Bale with a beautifully-weighted pass. Silvestre's lack of pace was exposed as the in-form Bale raced inside him and planted the ball beyond Almunia.

Defoe and Pavlyuchenko were then scrambling frantically to take advantage of hesitancy in the visitors' defence as Spurs pushed for a third.

Bendtner dragged a shot narrowly wide of the left post and, in the 68th minute, the Dane was joined up front by Van Persie.

Van Persie forced a fine reflex save from Gomes and the Brazilian then punched clear three successive hanging balls amid a mass of bodies.

Better was to come from Gomes, however, as he made a magnificent stop from Van Persie's perfectly placed free-kick before then diving to keep out Campbell.

But he was powerless to prevent Arsenal pulling one back with six minutes to go as Spurs' defence failed to pick up Theo Walcott's pass which Bendtner slid across to bundle into the net.

The Gunners poured forward in search of the equaliser but Spurs held out for a precious win over their north London rivals.

Barcelona 4 - 1 Arsenal

Messi quartet haunts Gunners

Lionel Messi lived up to his billing as the best player in the world with four goals to end Arsenal's Champions League dream in the Nou Camp.

Nicklas Bendtner had fired the Gunners into a shock lead on 18 minutes. However, Messi soon drew Barcelona level after capitalising on a mistake by Mikael Silvestre.

The Argentina forward then added a second from close range before dashing clear to make it 3-1 on the night just before the break, and grabbed a fourth with three minutes left to complete a comfortable 6-3 aggregate victory for the tournament holders.

Arsene Wenger's injury-hit squad - without the likes of captain Cesc Fabregas, Andrey Arshavin and Alex Song - must now regroup and focus on overhauling Chelsea and Manchester United in the Barclays Premier League title race.

Arsenal, playing in their white change kit, looked determined not to be overrun as they had during the opening exchanges of the first leg.

Barcelona, however, created an couple of chances when Xavi, captain for the night in the absence of suspended Carles Puyol, flicked the ball wide before Messi fired an angled shot just over the bar in a sign of things to come.

The English side, though, snatched a shock lead on their first real chance after 18 minutes.

Theo Walcott was put clear by Abou Diaby down the right, and he dashed into the Barca penalty area before squaring to Bendtner.

Victor Valdes made a good reaction save, but the in-form Denmark striker was quick to stab the rebound into the net and put the English team ahead in the tie for the first time.

The Gunners then wasted another chance of a breakaway, as Diaby pushed the ball left to Bendtner when Walcott was in space on the right.

It proved a costly error as Barcelona went up the other end to equalise on 21 minutes.

Silvestre, in the side ahead of veteran Sol Campbell who was not fully fit, failed to clear the ball on the edge of the Arsenal penalty area - and Messi needed no second invitation, lashing his shot into the top right corner.

Messi continued to torment Arsenal as he collected the ball on the right touchline before weaving into the box and drilling a shot into the side netting.

Arsenal were again punished by Messi for some poor defending as Barcelona went 2-1 ahead on 37 minutes.

Eric Abidal crossed the ball into the Arsenal box from the right, which was cut out by Thomas Vermaelen. However, his team-mates were slow to react as Pedro knocked the loose ball out to Messi - and he smashed it past Almunia.

The Argentina international completed a stunning hat-trick four minutes before the break when he latched onto a header from Abidal to race clear before dispatching a brilliant chip over the Arsenal keeper.

Messi nearly had another at the start of the second half when Pedro whipped a low ball across the Arsenal six-yard box from the right, which was just too far ahead of the Barcelona forward.

Arsenal had little choice but to go forwards, but that left the visitors exposed at the back.

The visitors nearly found away through when Diaby stabbed the ball to Bendtner just inside the Barcelona box, but the Denmark striker was hustle out of possession before he could shoot.

Then when left-back Gael Clichy broke and fed Bendtner, the home defence again got back in numbers to clear.

Diaby's low ball across the edge of the Barcelona box went all the way through to Tomas Rosicky, but the Czech snatched at his shot, which flew harmlessly wide.

Messi's clever quick free-kick released Pedro, but his angled chip was off target, before at the other end Bendtner's header crashed against the post - but the offside flag was up.

With 18 minutes left, Wenger sent on Eduardo for Rosicky, with Samir Nasri moving out to the left in a 4-4-2.

Clichy knocked Alves off the ball to charge forwards, but, with team-mates well placed, drilled an ambitious shot over from 20 yards.

Maxwell forced Almunia into a good save at his near post after cutting into the right side of the Arsenal penalty area.

Messi then completed a fine night's work with another well-taken goal three minutes from time as the holders marched on towards a mouth-watering semi-final clash against Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan.

Arsenal FC News : Arsenal 1 - 0 Wolverhampton Wanderers

Super-sub Bendtner fires Gunners
Nicklas Bendtner came off the bench to head a dramatic stoppage-time winner and keep Arsenal's Premier League title dreams alive with a narrow 1-0 win over 10-man Wolves at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners - outplayed by Barcelona for large spells at home on Tuesday night - made seven changes to their starting XI as manager Arsene Wenger clearly had one eye on next week's Champions League quarter-final second leg at the Nou Camp.

However, despite dominating the home side could not find a breakthrough until deep into five minutes of stoppage time.

Wolves defended bravely and overcame the sending off of captain Karl Henry for a late challenge on Tomas Rosicky only to be denied when Bendtner headed in what could prove to be the young Dane's most vital strike yet.

Bendtner also netted a last-gasp strike as the Gunners defeated Hull last month.

The victory keeps Arsenal on the coat tails of Chelsea and Manchester United with five games remaining.

After Chelsea went back to the top of the table with their controversial 2-1 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford, Wenger knew there was little margin for error if Arsenal wanted to keep pace as the title race heats up.

Theo Walcott - recalled to the team after his goal against Barcelona - weaved his way into the Wolves box after cutting in from the right, before chipping the ball back across goal where Eduardo forced goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann into a fine, one-handed reaction save.

Wolves defender Michael Mancienne charged forwards and let fly from 25 yards, which was just off target.

Arsenal went close again when Rosicky pulled the ball back through a crowded six-yard box to find Eduardo, but the Croatian could only stab the ball wide as he lost balance.

Walcott then released right-back Bacary Sagna on the overlap into the Wolves penalty area, and his shot was blocked by Hahnemann.

After 15 minutes, the French defender was in again, this time sliding to hook the ball to Emmanuel Eboue, whose attempted backheel hit his trailing leg.

Arsenal continued to press, with Walcott testing Hahnemann with a 20-yard snap-shot after the ball dropped to him from a corner.

Although it continued to be one-way traffic, Wolves remained solid.

Rosicky created some space for himself on the edge of the area, but could only fire his shot high into the stands, while Denilson then drilled a low effort wide and Mikael Silvestre tested the Wolves goalkeeper again.

Arsenal maintained the pressure at the start of the second half as Silvestre flashed a low centre across goal.

Alex Song collected the ball 30 yards out and charged forwards, only to blaze his shot wide.

Walcott continued to be Arsenal's main attacking outlet, but the home side lacked any real presence in the Wolves box.

Eduardo volleyed wide after reacting quickly to a high ball.

As the hour mark approached, Rosicky cut in from the right and fired a low, angled drive goalwards, which Hahnemann was again behind.

There was still a threat from Wolves, though, as winger Matthew Jarvis flashed a couple of dangerous balls into the Arsenal six-yard box.

After 66 minutes, Wolves captain Henry was shown a straight red by referee Andre Marriner for needlessly going through the back of Rosicky, who was facing his own goal in the centre-circle.

The Czech midfielder needed treatment to his calf, but was soon back on the pitch and forced Hahnemann into another good reaction save before Bendtner stretched the American with a looping header.

Rosicky cleared off the line as Sol Campbell deflected the ball towards his own goal following a Wolves corner.

Arsenal sent on Mexican Carlos Vela to try to find a way through.

Walcott stabbed a close-range effort wide during five minutes of stoppage time.

Then, just when it seemed all over, Sagna whipped the ball into the six-yard box where Bendtner arrived to bullet a header past Hahnemann as the Emirates Stadium erupted.

Arsenal FC News : Arsenal 2 - 2 Barcelona

Updated: April 1, 2010, 8:53 AM UK
Cesc Fabregas kept Arsenal's European dream alive after the Gunners came from 2-0 down to draw the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Barcelona at Emirates Stadium.

The Spaniards had lived up to their billing as favourites following a blistering start and a second-half double from Zlatan Ibrahimovic looked to have all but killed off the tie.

However, Theo Walcott came off the bench to pull a goal back before Fabregas - who will miss the second leg at his old club after being booked - smashed in a late penalty after Carles Puyol was sent off for fouling the midfielder in the box.

While Barcelona will still be favourites to progress, Arsene Wenger's young side again showed great character and could yet prove their doubters wrong once more with a similarly courageous display in the Nou Camp.

Arsenal were on the backfoot straight away in a frenetic opening, with Thomas Vermaelen cutting out a low ball into the six-yard box.

Goalkeeper Manuel Almunia - who had been at fault for Birmingham's stoppage-time equaliser on Saturday - was suddenly in the thick of the action as the Spaniard pulled off fine saves to deny Sergio Busquets and Lionel Messi.

The hosts just could not get hold of the ball - a situation so alien here at Emirates Stadium.

Almunia was again called into action when he blocked Messi's drive following another mesmerising run by the Argentina international as the Gunners were simply outplayed at their own game, the home fans subdued as Wenger paced his technical area.

Then, the Arsenal keeper first denied Ibrahimovic from point-blank range and then spread himself in front of Xavi to save the follow-up before Messi's effort was blocked on the line by Alex Song, and eventually the ball hacked clear.

With quarter-of-an-hour gone, it continued to be relentless, one-way traffic from the Spaniards.

When Arsenal finally got some possession, Andrey Arshavin swung over a dangerous cross from the right before Samir Nasri cut inside from the left and drilled an angled shot across the face of goal and wide of the far post.

On 27 minutes, Arsenal were forced into a change when Arshavin was replaced by Emmanuel Eboue on 27 minutes, as the Russian limped off.

Barcelona continued to look the more threatening as Ibrahimovic again shot over.

Nicklas Bendtner - who smashed a hat-trick against Porto to seal a place in the quarter-finals - was picked out by Nasri's left-wing cross. But the Dane could only fire his close-range effort against keeper Victor Valdes and the rebound onto the post. However, the assistant had already correctly flagged for offside.

Three minutes before the break, defender William Gallas - just back from eight games out - had to be carried off after appearing to aggravate his calf problem. Song dropped back into the centre of defence, with Denilson coming into midfield.

Just before the break, Fabregas was penalised for a foul on Busquets, with Swiss referee Massimo Busacca showing a yellow card - which rules the Spaniard out of next week's return to his old club.

Then, disaster struck for Arsenal 30 seconds after the restart.

A long ball from inside the Barcelona half by Gerard Pique split the centre-backs, and Ibrahimovic raced clear down the right channel.

Almunia decided to come out, which invited the Swede to simply lob his shot up and over the keeper into the far corner.

The Gunners looked for a quick response when Fabregas sprinted down the right before releasing Gael Clichy on the overlap.

His cross was met by Bendtner, but the Dane could only power a header straight at Valdes.

It was, though, seemingly game over and indeed the end of the Gunners' European dream when, on 59 minutes, Ibrahimovic beat the offside trap as he latched onto Xavi's fine throughball, before drilling his shot past Almunia.

With 24 minutes left, Wenger made his final throw of the dice as he sent on Walcott for Bacary Sagna.

It proved an inspired move as the winger, under the watchful gaze of England manager Fabio Capello, latched onto Bendtner's pass on the right side of the box, before slipping the ball under Valdes.

With seven minutes left, the match turned when Barcelona captain Puyol barged into Fabregas as he tried to connect with a knockdown from Bendtner.

The referee pointed to the spot, before showing a red card. Fabregas lashed in the spot-kick to give his side hope at the Nou Camp.
