Satu lagi malam kemenangan buat Seman Wheelie. Terbeliak matanya mengira wang yang dimenanginya setelah mengalahkan Awang Neo dalam perlumbaan tadi. Khusyuk mengira, tidak disedari lansung dek Seman yang Ani, antara gadis yang paling anggun di kawasan Pertama Kompleks, sudahpun membonceng motornya.

Didakapnya Seman dari belakang sambil berbisik manja ke telinga Seman,

"Bang, bawakla Ani balik malam ni. Ani sunyi la tido sorang-sorang nanti..."

Jari jemari Seman yang asyik mengira wang sejak tadi tiba-tiba berhenti. Kepalanya yang terhangguk-hangguk menunduk terus terdongak dek lambaian suara manja Ani yang menghembus ke telinganya. Seluruh badannya kaku, tergamam sejenak bagaikan dipanah petir.

Tanpa berkata apa, terus disumbatkan segala wang kertas ke dalam dompetnya lantas dipakaikan kepada Ani topi keledar lebih yang sentiasa dibawa kemana-mana untuk situasi-situasi sebegini. Dihidupkan enjin RXZnya lantas laju Seman memecut meninggalkan rakan-rakan sekumpulannya.

"Seman Seman... sen pun kau dapat... mambang pun kau dapat malam ni... memang malam kau la ni..."

Kata Raz, rakan karib Seman kepada dirinya sendiri.

Dalam perjalanan pulang, segala peluang untuk mencilok ruang dicelah-celah kereta tidak ditinggalkan oleh Seman. Apatah lagi, semakin kuat dia menekan minyak, semakin kuat jualah pelukan Ani. Segala jenis lampu isyarat dan bonggol tidak diendahkan Seman.

"Hehe... orang cakap pompuan ni kalau lu bagi dia takut-takut, nanti dia lagi ghairah..."

Fikir Seman di dalam benaknya sambil laju dia memecut ke dalam kawasan rumah flatnya.

Tanpa membuka topi keledar, terus dipimpin Ani naik ke rumahnya di tingkat sembilan. Di dalam lif, hati Seman berdebar-debar memikirkan rancangan seterusnya. Matanya tajam merenung susuk tubuh Ani yang tidak ubah seperti model jamu yang menjadi pujaanya.

Makin dekat mereka ke rumah Seman, makin kuat debaran hati Seman. Sampaikan tangannya menggigil masa membuka pintu. Sebaik masuk ke dalam rumah, lampu kalimantang yang malap dipasangnya.

"Ini macam baru romantik. Ani duduk dulu ye, bang Seman nak mandi jap..."

"Ala bang Seman, tak payah mandi la... meh la duduk sebelah Ani ni. Boring la sorang-sorang..."

Gedegang! Topi keledar yang dipegang Seman terjatuh dek pujuk rayu Ani.

Terketar-ketar dia berjalan ke arah Ani yang sudah pun terbaring di atas sofanya. Berderau darah Seman melihat Ani. Perlahan-lahan ditumbangkan badannya. Jari-jemarinya Seman mula nakal. Gelak tawa kecil Ani bagaikan menaikkan lagi nafsu Seman yang sudahpun membuak-buak. Ani akur, merelakan dirinya diexplore oleh Seman.

"Tok! Tok! Tok!"

Bunyi ketukan pintu rumahnya tiba-tiba membantutkan gerak-geri Seman.

"Jais... Jais..."

Suara seorang lelaki sedang melaung diluar pintu.

Seman terkedu. Degup jantungnya kini sepantas motornya tadi. Dipalingnya ke kanan dah ke kiri; tiada tempat untuk sembunyi. Hanya tingkap rumahnya menjadi jalan keluar. Tanpa menghiraukan ketinggian rumahnya, Seman terus terjun keluar tingkap sambil bergayut pada engsel tingkapnya.

"T...t...takpe takpe Ani. Gi tengok sapa tu, c...cakap ni rumah Ani. Dok sorang kat s...sini. Abang Seman cuba g...gayut kat sini..."

Kata Seman tergagap-gagap dalam ketakutan.

Ani terus ke pintu dan bila dibukanya, seorang lelaki dalam umur 30-an sedang berdiri sambil bertanya,

"Ni rumah encik Jais ke?"

Ani tergamam.

"Tolooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong..."

Sayup tedengar suara Seman dari luar tingkap. Ani terus bergegas dan bila dijenguknya ke luar, mayat Seman sudahpun terdampar di tengah jalan.

Duduk Lama Depan Komputer Boleh Bawa Maut



Sejak akhir-akhir terdengar beberapa webmaster diserang dengan pelbagai jenis penyakit sehingga ada diantaranya begitu kritikal sehingga terpaksa dimasukkan ke wad hospital untuk pemantauan kesihatannya. Malah ada diantaranya telah sampai ke tahap kritikal sehingga diserang penyakit angina ahmar.

Ramai yang masih tidak sedar bahawa duduk terlalu lama di depan komputer atau bekerja selama berjam-jam secara pasif di atas kerusi akan membuat otot-otot tubuh kita terasa kaku, keras dan mata menjadi pedih. Malah selain keluhan ringan tersebut tersembunyi juga ancaman lain yang berisiko bagi kesihatan.



New Zealand Medical Journal dalam edisi terbaru, melaporkan kajian dari Institut Penyelidikan Perubatan New Zealand menunjukkan bahawa pekerja pejabat yang menghabiskan masa terlalu lama duduk di meja masing-masing berisiko tinggi menghadapi masalah darah beku. Penyelidik mendapati, satu pertiga daripada pesakit yang dimasukkan ke hospital kerana mengidap -trombosis pembuluh darah vena (DVT) atau darah beku, adalah mereka yang menghabiskan masa berjam-jam mengadap komputer.

Penyakit Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) ini adalah disebabkan darah beku yang menyebabkan salur pembuluh darah terutamanya di bahagian peha dan betis tersumbat. Keadaan ini berlaku kerana aliran darah yang tidak baik hasil dari aktiviti yang pasif dan rehat yang berlebihan.

Hal ini akan diperburukkan apabila bilik yang diduduki berhawa dingin dimana udara yang sejuk itu mempercepatkan kadar pembekuan darah terutama di bahagian kaki.

Ketua penyelidik, Profesor Richard Beasley berkata sebahagian pekerja pejabat yang mengidap masalah itu duduk di depan skrin komputer selama lebih 10 jam sehari. Masalah ini biasanya dihadapi oleh pekerja dalam industri teknologi maklumat dan pusat panggilan.

Sekitar 34 peratus dari 62 sampel yang mengalami gumpalan darah adalah mereka yang dalam jangka waktu lama bekerja dengan duduk di kerusi, sementara 21 peratus penderita lainnya adalah terdiri dari mereka yang melakukan perjalanan jarak jauh menaiki kapal terbang, seperti disiarkan oleh AFP.





DVT itu sendiri merupakan menurut pakar kesihatan adalah pembentukan gumpalan darah nadi bahagian dalam, paling sering dijumpai di kaki. Gumpalan tersebut boleh pindah ke jantung, paru-paru atau otak dan bisa menyebabkan rasa sakit di dada, sesak nafas atau bahkan kematian akibat serangan jantung atau angin ahmar.

Pakar Perunding Paru-Paru, Institut Perubatan Respiratori, Dr Ashari Yunus berkata darah beku ini datang dari kaki, tetapi juga boleh berpunca daripada pembuluh darah di lengan, bahagian kanan jantung malah hujung kateter yang ditempatkan dalam pembuluh darah. Dalam kes yang sangat jarang berlaku, lemak atau tisu dari tumor atau kelompok bakteria mungkin boleh berkumpul di arteri paru-paru.


Mengapa pulmonari embolisme terjadi?

Manusia memiliki sepasang paru-paru. Darah secara konsisten dipam dari kanan jantung ke paru-paru dan kembali ke sebelah kiri jantung. Dalam paru-paru, darah mengambil oksigen dan mengeluarkan karbon dioksida, sisa metabolisme.

Arteri membawa darah yang kaya oksigen ke seluruh tubuh. Pembuluh darah pula membawa darah kurang oksigen kembali ke jantung. Darah beku yang terjadi dalam pembuluh darah boleh mengalir ke salur darah di kanan jantung sebelum masuk ke arteri paru-paru, di situ sekatan mungkin boleh berlaku.

Sekatan itu boleh terjadi pada arteri yang kecil tetapi paru-paru sangat ‘rapuh’ kerana semua darah dalam tubuh melalui paru-paru setiap kali diedarkan. Kerap kali, darah beku berisiko untuk terbentuk dan tersebar ke seluruh bahagian paru-paru.

Simptom:


1. Cepat penat.
2. Mengah.
3. Sakit dada.
4. Denyutan nadi laju.
5. Lemah di bahagian kaki.
6. Kurang selera makan.
7. Batuk.
8. Nafas pendek sama ada dalam keadaan rehat atau aktif.






Cegahan:


1. Stokin untuk mengelakkan berlakunya darah beku dalam saluran darah (deep vein thrombosis). Ia berfungsi untuk mencengkam kulit dan mengempiskan vena supaya darah tidak bertakung.
2. Perbanyakkan gerakan terutama di bahagian kaki.
3. Elakkan meminum airbatu.
4. Elakkan membuka hawa dingin terlalu sejuk.
5. Sentiasa meminum air panas.
6. Amalkan bersenam.






Rawatan:


Biasanya pesakit dirawat dengan ubat yang menghentikan dan memperlahankan darah beku seperti heparin dan warfarin. Kedua-duanya membantu mencegah darah beku sedia ada daripada menjadi besar dan menghentikan pembentukan darah beku yang baru.

Jika pulmonari embolisme yang dialami mengancam nyawa, biasanya doktor akan menyarankan terapi thrombolitik (mengeluarkan darah beku dari sistem tubuh dengan enzim yang bertindak memecahkannya).

Blackburn Rovers 1-2 Arsenal

Arsenal had enough quality to edge out Blackburn Rovers 2-1 at Ewood Park in a lively encounter that sees the Gunners take a provisional lead at the top of the Premier League table.

The Gunners drew blood first with Theo Walcott finishing off an excellent move to put his side ahead in the first half. Rovers responded through Mame Biram Diouf but after the break, Andrei Arshavin pounced to secure maximum points. In a slight downer for the Gunners, Robin Van Persie had to be taken off injured.

Arsene Wenger shuffled the starting line-up that demolished Blackpool last weekend at the Emirates. Cesc Fabregas and Van Persie were finally deemed fit enough to start with Alex Song switching back to midfield in place of Jack Wilshere. Laurent Kocielny, after serving a one-match supsension, slotted back into defence.

Rovers made two changes from their league defeat at Birmingham last week. On-loan striker Biram Diouf came into the side after his midweek hat-trick against Norwich in the Carling Cup, and Vince Grella was preferred in midfield to Steven N'Zonzi.

All the top sides struggled to take anything away from Ewood Park last season but Rovers almost allowed Arsenal an easy goal with less than five minutes on the clock. Slack defending from a corner saw the ball worked out to Abou Diaby on the edge of the box and the Frenchman's shot was deflected and ricocheted off Paul Robinson to safety to let the home side off the hook.

But Rovers were showing typical commitment and intensity in the way they started the game and minutes later from a corner down the other end, Fabregas had to clear off the line a Ryan Nelsen headed effort.

Arsenal didn't look comfortable dealing with an aerial bombardment that was winding into full swing at this point and the pressure was kept up with Samba next leaping high to head the ball goalbound from a throw but Manuel Almunia was adept enough to push the ball away.

It was back and forth now in an interesting clash of styles and it was only a matter of time before someone's goalmouth was breached and that duly arrived in the 19th minute, with Arsenal going ahead after a great move.

The ball was played up to Arshavin and under pressure the Russian squeezed the ball out to Van Persie who looked up and delivered a slide-rule pass to release Theo Walcott into the box. With a great first touch, the youngster cut into goal and finished superbly into the far right corner to give the Gunners the lead.

Wenger's men were now passing the ball around brilliantly and worryingly for Allardyce, Walcott seemed to be working the lines dangerously. Another good passing move saw the ball spread out wide to the youngster and a terrific turn of pace by the England international left Gael Givet for dead and allowed him to cross low into the box but Samba did just enough to block the ball from danger.

Rovers continued to look dangerous with their direct style though and they found a way back into the game on the 26th minute.

A brilliant ball by Samba released El-Hadji Diouf down the left and the attacking midfielder shrugged off Laurent Koscielny to square to Mame Diouf who had the simple task of tapping in his low cross to draw his side level.

More bad news arrived for Arsenal minutes later when Van Persie had to be replaced injured by Marouane Chamakh.

But to their credit Arsenal continued to press and Walcott in particular seemed to be carrying his excellent form from last week into this game. The Englishman almost made another impact in the match when he was played into the box by Fabregas but he was cornered to the right of goal and could only force a corner that was eventually cleared.

Right at the end of the half the Rovers dangerman, Mame Diouf, was nearly played in by a long ball over the top but Clichy did enough to force the ball out for a throw and things ended all square.


The second half and the open nature of the game resumed, Morten Gamst Pedersen was allowed space in the middle to unleash a powerful drive that curled wide of the top right of goal.

Straight down the other end Rovers were caught napping and a lung-busting run from Bacary Sagna down the right ended in the Frenchman crossing dangerously into the box. Fabregas received the ball and took a shot but it was blocked, only for it to land at the feet of Arshavin to the right of goal who made no mistake and beat Robinson with a low accurate shot into the far corner. Arshavin had been quiet up until that point but that has so often been the trademark of the Russian and Arsenal were ahead again none-the-less.

The Gunners superior quality was really beginning to tell at this point with Fabregas doing what he does best and dictating the movement of the ball around the field and Arshavin waking up.

The two linked again when Fabregas slid-through the Russian who jinked past two players only to be stopped in front of goal by Nelsen.

Rovers tried to respond but their forays forward were becoming rarer. Pedersen nearly created something when he was allowed to cross from the left but the ball was just a little too high for Hadji-Diouf who was in the right place to profit.

With Rovers chasing the game, there was ample space for Walcott down the flank and Givet was given the thankless task of trying to halt the speed demon with open space between them. The full-back wasn't really up to the task though and another darting run saw Walcott breeze past and fire low and hard at goal but Robinson got down well to save.

The home crowd were now subdued but substitute David Dunn nearly changed all that when he muscled his way past the Arsenal centre-backs and fired a shot that Almunia was thankful was straight at him.

Rovers streaming forward was a dangerous game, and after Hadji-Diouf had been denied a shout for a penalty on the edge of the box, a good break from the Gunners saw Walcott square to sub Jake Wilshere in acres of space on the right but his shot was denied by Robinson at the death.

David Ngog celebrates his powerful strike

Jose Reina's late howler enabled Arsenal to snatch a draw from a thrilling Premier League opener at 10-man Liverpool.

The Liverpool goalkeeper saw the ball rebound off him after Marouane Chamakh had hit the post in the final minute at Anfield to cancel out a David Ngog strike.

The goal was reward for a late spell of Arsenal pressure but it was unfortunate for Liverpool, who had survived most of the second half unscathed after the sending off of Joe Cole.

The big-name summer signing from Chelsea was dismissed on his league debut for a reckless challenge on Arsenal debutant Laurent Koscielny.

Koscielny himself also received a red card, but not until moments before the final whistle when he earned a second booking for handball.

The equaliser denied Liverpool what would have been only their fourth victory over the Gunners in their last 19 league meetings. It remains to be seen how much the new wave of optimism which has swept into the club since Roy Hodgson was appointed as manager has been punctured.

One of the reasons for the upbeat mood had been Cole's arrival but while the midfielder's first league start was one to forget, Hodgson did coax a solid showing from wantaway Javier Mascherano.

Fernando Torres was left in reserve, and later entered to a huge ovation after pledging his future to the club and recovering from a groin injury, but Arsenal missed two of their bigger stars more.

Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie were both said to be lacking match-fitness and while the former was absent altogether, the Dutchman made only a late appearance.

Thomas Vermaelen tested Jose Reina early on with a fierce free-kick but aside from that, the first half was almost devoid of action until exploding into life in the closing moments.

Dirk Kuyt created Liverpool's first opportunity when he turned in the box but Manuel Almunia easily gathered his cross. New signing Milan Jovanovic cut through the Arsenal midfield with a determined run but Kuyt's final ball again found Almunia.

Arsenal's Samir Nasri had another long-range free-kick blocked and Vermaelen put the rebound wide. Gael Clichy had Arsenal's first serious chance from open play when he broke clear down the left after 30 minutes and fired a shot narrowly over from outside the box.

Liverpool thought an opportunity was opening up soon after when Almunia failed to claim a corner but referee Martin Atkinson spotted a foul by Daniel Agger on Vermaelen.

The action on the field was tight with neither side giving much away but Arsenal were almost caught when Jovanovic raced onto a long ball. With Cole walking back from an offside position, the Arsenal defence let the ball bounce and the Serbia international darted into the box, only to blast wide.

The game suddenly came alive in the closing minute of the first half. First Glen Johnson had a shot tipped over by Almunia and Ngog then had a header cleared off the line from the resulting corner.

The complexion of the game then changed completely in injury time as Cole was sent off for his lunge at Koscielny. The defender returned to the dressing room on a stretcher at the interval but ran out to start the second period as normal.

He was greeted by boos from Liverpool fans but replays of the tackle suggested that, although the initial decision may have seemed harsh, the law had been applied correctly.

Liverpool seemed determined not to let their numerical disadvantage bother them and made a blistering start to the second half.

They claimed the lead within two minutes of the restart as Mascherano threaded a ball into the box for Ngog and the Frenchman fired home at the near post. It was his fourth goal of the season after three in Liverpool's first Europa League qualifying tie.

Not content with that, the Reds pushed forward again and Martin Skrtel headed wide from a dangerous Steven Gerrard free-kick. Ngog had an even better chance when he leapt to reach another Gerrard set-piece but could not direct his header on target.

Kuyt created another fine chance after skipping past Clichy on the right but no-one could turn in his ball across goal. Liverpool were reduced to nine men when Agger left the field for treatment after all three substitutes had been used.

Arsenal stepped up the tempo and Tomas Rosicky showed great control with a slaloming run into the area before seeing his shot brilliantly touched over by Reina.

The pressure eventually told in the last minute as Reina and Chamakh collided after Rosicky's cross. The ball spilled loose and hit the post, but in his rush to claw the ball back Reina could only help it over the line.

Gerrard almost snatched victory as the game went into five minutes of injury time but Almunia kept out his free-kick. The game ended on more controversy as Koscielny picked up a second booking for handball, though the decision seemed harsh.

# Hodgson: Cole left ''devastated''

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson said Joe Cole was upset after he was sent off on his league debut for the Reds.

Hodgson said: ''He is devastated - his debut at Liverpool, fantastic atmosphere, so desperate to do well. He was not playing at the top of his game, but was trying hard to get to that level, when suddenly he gets sent off. He was saddened by it all and not least because it put us in a difficult situation.''

Arsene Wenger said: ''It was completely in the corner and I was on the bench, so I couldn't see it. But Joe Cole is usually a fair player, he is not one I would record is a guy who tries to hurt people. It is not his style. Maybe he was a bit rushing in his tackle.

''He kicked him - certainly accidentally - well because he [Koscielny] had a big knock on his shin. Fortunately his shinpad protected him well. We were scared it was broken because when he was moved off the pitch the physio told me it could be broken.''

Hodgson added on the Cole incident: ''Of course we now have the benefit of replays on the TV and those replays suggest to me he was a little bit unlucky. I don't think he dived to tackle the player, he dived in front of the ball to try to stop it being played down the line.
