Fishing in New Caledonia

New Caledonia, which lies in the south-western Pacific Ocean, is a French colony and has a large island of New Caledonia and several smaller islands. Original inhabitants of New Caledonia were Kanak - Melanesian people, whose ancestors came to this land, probably from the islands of Papua and New Guinea. Melanesians still constitute the largest group of the population, but is home to as many Europeans.
